Remarkable features

When you are a first-time car buyer or buying for the tenth time, the only thing that matters the most is the features that you get in your vehicle. Even when you are about to buy an MG SUV for sale, you want to learn about the specifications first. When we talk about an MG SUV, you can be assured that you are headed for the best. Let us now look at the most outstanding attributes that shape this high-quality car model.

  • Active emergency braking - Speeding below 12 mph, this automobile will automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision with a bicycle, pedestrian or vehicle. When you put the speeds beyond 12 mph, the active emergency braking feature will automatically decrease the chances of an accident. Even if an accident takes place, its severity will be much less due to this feature.

  • Lane keeps assist - This feature is all about utilizing a camera for detecting the lane marking prior and monitoring the vehicle's position in the lane. When moving out of the lane unintentionally, the vehicle will be positioned back in its correct lane with this function. The driver receives a warning sign either through an audible vibration in the steering wheel or visual. The car also can control its steering for keeping it within the lane.
  • Adaptive cruise control - Monitoring the road ahead becomes convenient with the feature called adaptive cruise control. When the road is all clear, the speed set by you or the driver is maintained by this feature. When the system detects a slow-moving vehicle within the detection range, it will softly decrease the speed and release the accelerator with brake control system engagement. If the car changes lanes or speeds up, then this feature will automatically augment back to the driver's desired speed.
  • Traffic jam assists - When the feature, as mentioned earlier, gets turned on, the feature called Traffic Jam Assist will continuously evaluate the surrounding vehicle's speed and compare it with its very own driving speed. Activating JTA is recommended when the system detects traffic jams or dense traffic at a speed that is below 45 mph.

Let us know about MG5 EV deals in the UK

This is the first and cheapest electric estate in the UK, but it has a longer range.

The MG 5 has been on the market for just over a year, and aside from being one of the cheapest EVs on the market, with a starting price of £25,095, it's also one of only two that comes with a practical estate body – the other being the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.

MG has added a long-distance version of the MG 5 to its lineup for 2021, offering 250 miles from a full charge of its 57.7kWh battery, up from 214 for the standard model. You will get to know about MG5 EV here.

MG has added a long-distance version of the MG 5 to its lineup for 2021, offering 250 miles from a full charge of its 57.7kWh battery, up from 214 for the standard model. The Long-Range can also charge at speeds of up to 100kW. At a starting price of £26,495 after the Plug-In Car Grant for the 'Excite' trim, that is a pretty good deal compared to Mazda's much less practical MX-30, which will only go 117 miles.

How does it feel?

Almost, because as soon as you get into the MG 5 EV estate, long-range or not, you can see where the savings are. Remember that MG is a brand of the Chinese SAIC and is sold in its home country as the Roewe i5, and it stands to reason that the resulting experience will not be comparable to that of a more established manufacturer.

A sea of hard, scratchy plastic and vinyl greets you. Some switches feel quite solid, while others appear prone to conking out after a few years. MGs have a seven-year warranty, so it's unlikely, but the feeling isn't great.

When you try to lower the seat, you realize that this is an SUV disguised as an estate car, as the unusually high ride combines with a high seat to create a very SUV-like driving position. The seat isn't particularly supportive in any way, and the leatherette isn't an improvement over the cloth upholstery.

The infotainment system appears to be a stock unit that has been customized to allow you to change the car's settings. It's not particularly responsive, large, or attractive, but its extreme simplicity means it's simple to navigate.

Surprisingly for an electric vehicle, the gauges are analog, with a screen between the dials that displays all the information you need – such as the economy, which hovers around 3.6 miles per kWh – as well as some you don't, such as the charging voltage and the current the battery is delivering.

When you start driving, things only get a little better. It feels pretty quick, with 154bhp and 192lb-ft of torque and no gears to change, but even on a warm, dry day, the power easily overwhelmed the front tires' traction before the traction control kicked in quite crudely. It's not the kind of car you'd want to drive fast in. The body control is a little loose, but the steering is nicely weighted (except on the highway), and the ride is smooth.

The MG 5 Long Range also comes with MG Pilot, a suite of active safety features that includes adaptive cruise control with lane keep assisting and automatic emergency braking. Again, like the chassis, powertrain, and interior, it lacks a layer of polish that other automakers would not approve of. The lane keep assist is clumsy, and the adaptive cruise control delays braking. Fortunately, you can turn off the lot, and it will remain turned off if you want it to.
